Kurt Manufacturing got its start in the cycling industry when it began manufacturing the trainer frames for a competitor. The competitor went bankrupt in 1999. Stuck with a great deal of inventory and tooling and armed with the knowledge about leaking resistance units, Kurt decided to apply its precision manufacturing expertise to build bike trainers. The result was a design so innovative it was awarded a patent for its leak proof fluid resistance unit. Kinetic trainers are built to push your limits.

They are the most advanced mechanical training tools available. Innovative design, patented fluid resistance technology and precision engineering set them apart from the competition. Kinetic's fluid resistance unit is the industry standard for reliability and consistency and it's backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty. Trainer resistance is available in fluid, wind, magnetic and electronic. Magnetic trainers are most common and have fixed levels of resistance.
Fluid trainers have progressive levels of resistance; the harder you pedal, the more resistance they provide. Wind trainers tend to be very noisy, as they generate their resistance from a fan. Electronic trainers require a power source and can often provide the most powerful and precise levels of resistance. They sometimes can include virtual reality interfaces for a more interactive experience.
Important notice: To use the Utility app for Android 1. Turn off all apps running in the background 2. Turn off Bluetooth and then turn it on again 3.
Then start the Utility app This is done to ensure the phone can properly connect to your trainer and send the firmware without other applications interfering. Firmware update for: - Bushido Smart (T2780) - Vortex Smart (T2180) - NEO Smart (T2800) - Genius Multiplayer Smart (T2010) - Genius Smart (T2080) - Ironman Smart (T2060) - Flow Smart (T2240) Use the Tacx Utility app to upgrade your Smart trainer with the ANT+ FE-C protocol. With this upgrade your trainer learns the “ANT+ open language” so that it can communicate with software of third parties.
On top of reading your speed, cadence and power, you may now control the resistance of our trainers with software of others. Smart trainers: Smart trainers by Tacx have the following features in common: - ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart - Standard power and speed/cadence profile - Stand-alone: without connecting to a device the trainer acts as if you’re riding on a flat road - NEW: ANT+ FE-C certified Because of these features you can use the trainer as you see fit: connect to the device you want and use the software fitting your needs. TACX Tacx combines passion for technique and innovation with passion for cycling. We keep all knowledge close to home as our entire team and production plant is located at one place, in the Netherlands.
The standard for our products comes from requirements of professionals, who test our products and give us feedback. This app is extremely difficult and frustrating to use. I managed to connect my trainer initially, but then couldn't repeat again.
The problem is interference from other bluetooth devices. You need to switch off other devices first.

I struggled until I realised it worked when my power meter head unit was switched off. So I tried switching everything off except the trainer and the app. Success, well kind of. The app is still poor, but at least calibration works. This needs sorting out as ideally you need to calibrate when the trainer is warmed up after say ten minutes.

It's a faff exiting Zwift to use the app and then going back in. A real shame Tacx can't get better software for their trainers or at least useful instructions. Update: Trainer can report Power, but nothing else over Bluetooth and can't be controlled as before with, for example, TrainerRoad. It's effectively dead and will be going back to Tacx. Hardware is useless without solid software, Tacx can't write software, buy literally any other brand than Tacx.

Truly wish I'd bought a Wahoo Kickr. Easily the worst app I've ever installed.
I thought the other reviews couldn't be true, it can't be that bad. All seemed connected fine, but as soon as you go to update, it coverts your 1,200 GBP trainer into a paperweight. Tacx shall be refunding me the cost unless it somehow springs back into life. Whoever wrote this should be fired on the spot. Update: Resuscitated trainer with a completely new android phone. Trainer working, but unable to update.
App says on 0.4.2 and 0.7.5 available, so I update successfully, still on 0.4.2. Restart everything, update again, again works fine, but again still on 0.4.2. Repeat in a neverending cycle. Basically even when 'working', i.e. Not bricking your trainer, this app fails to do the single task it was created for.
